A piece of history
The largest meeting room of the Convent of Chièvres is located on the top floor, which testifies to the craftsmanship of 16th-century carpenters. William of Croÿ (c. 1458-1521), lord of Aarschot, Heverlee and Chièvres, among others, was councillor to Philip the Handsome and later governor of the young Charles V. Although he played an important diplomatic role, he was little loved in Spain.
