Anna De Paepe

Maria Anna de Pape was a Leuven Beguine who died in the Grand Beguinage in 1680 at the age of 56 and is buried in the Church of St John the Baptist. This room is located on the first floor of the Convent van Chièvres.

This room is located on the first floor of the Convent van Chièvres. To reach the building, you have to walk from the car park some distance into the Grand Beguinage. In view of the location’s historical character, the streets are paved with authentic cobblestones. Faculty Club does not have a lift.

A little history

Maria Anna de Pape was a Leuven Beguine who died in the Grand Beguinage in 1680 at the age of 56 and is buried in the Church of St John the Baptist. She was the daughter of Cornelius de Pape, a prosperous Leuven lawyer, and the sister of Libert de Pape, who was abbot of Park Abbey from 1648 to 1682 and a very influential man in the Netherlands in both church and political affairs.
